YSR master stroke for GHMC polls

In a yet another master stroke to woo Christians of Hyderabad before the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections, Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy on Tuesday introduced a resolution in the assembly requesting the Centre to take steps for a Constitutional amendment to include Dalit Christians into the Scheduled Castes.
The inclusion of Dalits converted into Christianity in the SC list has been a long pending demand and YSR knows that it is the best way to garner their votes. Hyderabad and Secunderabad accounts for a high percentage of Dalit Christians. At present, Dalits who get converted into Christianity are included under Backward Classes-C category; as such, they are forced to forego economic and social benefits being extended to SCs.
The Opposition parties had no other option but to support the Chief Minister’s move, because, they, too, have to appease the Dalit Christians. However, Bharatiya Janata Party and Lok Satta headed by former IAS officer Jayaprakash Narayan opposed the resolution.
BJP floor leader G Kishan Reddy opposed the move, dubbing it as vote bank politics. This, he warned, would encourage religious conversions. He accused the Congress government of turning the state into a “laboratory for vote bank politics” by extending benefits on the basis of religion.
Jayaprakash Narayan advised the government to withdraw the resolution as it would not stand in the Court, given the Supreme Court judgement capping reservations.
MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi demanded that the resolution should include Dalit Muslims as well.

'Magadheera' Crossed 'Pokiri' With Rs 46 Cr Share So Far

Deepika Padukone has everything going for her in Bollywood. She has worked with top stars and big banners. But she does have one regret - making her relationship with Ranbir Kapoor public.
'When we got into a relationship, we decided to be open about it. Otherwise there would be reports about us being spotted holding hands, kissing, hugging, etc. Since we were so clear about our relationship, we had nothing to hide. I thought people would respect that. But it didn't work out that way,' Deepika told IANS.
Deepika was specially upset about the paparazzi pictures of her and Ranbir.
'We both have families and very respectable families. People who take pictures of us secretly must have families and boyfriends and girlfriends. We've now decided not to talk about our friendship. At the end of the day no one is going to see our films because we're a couple,' said the actress who teamed up with Ranbir in 'Bachna Ae Haseeno'.

Talking about her 'Love Aaj Kal' co-star Saif, she said: 'Saif is reserved. I've heard he wasn't like this earlier. I believe he has calmed down a lot because of Kareena or whatever. Saif and I just did our work on Imtiaz Ali's sets and went our separate ways. That's the way I like it. I'm a very reserved person. I'm not here to make friends. Deepika has signed Sajid Khan's full-fledged comedy 'Houseful'.
'It's not just a few comic scenes here and there. It's a hardcore comic role. And I wonder how I'll manage it. I'll try. Sajid has a great sense of humour and I'd go by his vision. Sajid just told me to follow him. If my director has so much confidence in me, I can't let him down,' said the actress, who has a very sober image.
'But that doesn't mean I don't have a sense of fun. I plan to have a ball doing 'Houseful'. I'm a reserved person in real life, but that doesn't mean I can't be funny for the camera,' she added.

'I'm very fond of both of them. At a time when the entertainment industry wasn't too confident about me, Farah trusted me completely. She didn't even audition me. Farah was the one who spotted talent in me and cast me opposite Shah Rukh,' she said.

I may not campaign: Pavan Kalyan

After a long time, Praja Rajyam Party youth wing leader Pavan Kalyan surfaced in the open and spoke about politics.
Pavan donated blood on the occasion of his brother Chiranjeevi’s birthday and expressed confidence that he would come back to active politics very soon. “Hereafter, I will participate in every activity taken up by Annayya,” he told his fans and party workers at the blood donation camp.
However, he said it was doubtful whether he would campaign for the PRP candidate in Tekkali byelections because of his hectic film schedule. It may be mentioned that Chiranjeevi said on Friday that he and Pavan Kalyan would campaign in the by-elections. But Pavan is not too keen to get back into active politics at this stage.

'Baanam' Audio Released With Variety!!!

The new movie ‘Baanam’ which has Nara Rohit, son of Nara Ramamurthy Naidu (brother of Chandrababu Naidu) as the hero is gearing up and recently, the audio release happened very grandly. The Nandamuri clan along with Dasari, Allu Aravind were present for the release.
The unveiling of the songs happened in a variety manner. A total of five channels were roped in for this and each celebrity released one song in each channel. While CBN gave the CD to ‘Mouna Muni’ K Raghavendra Rao, Dasari gave it to Shyam Prasad Reddy. Allu Aravind gave it to Dr Vasu.
Melody Brahma Mani Sharma has given the tunes for the film and the director for this is debutante Chaitanya Dantuluri while the producers happen to be Priyanka Dutt, daughter of the mega producer Aswini Dutt. The film is slated for a release on September 16th.

Key PRP leaders skip Chiru birthday

The birthday celebrations of Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi in his own constituency Tirupati were a damp squib on Saturday.
Senior PRP leaders like former MLAs Chadalawada Krishna Murthy and N V Prasad, who played a key role in establishing the party in Tirupati and also securing victory for Chiranjeevi, stayed away from the birthday celebrations. Even the leaders and cadres supporting them did not take part in the celebrations, raising doubts about their continuing with the party.
Only PRP official spokesman Saikam Jayachandra Reddy organised a blood donation camp in the town, where about 200 party activists, mostly the fans of Chiranjeevi, Pawan Kalyan, Allu Arjun and Ramcharan donated blood. Later, he arranged poor feeding and distribution of fruit and bread to the patients at various hospitals in the district.

Oh Ganesha! Chiru has to start all over again

The entire country is celebrating Vinayaka Chavithi on Sunday. Everybody prays Lord Ganesha first before praying any other god, since He gives a good beginning to any activity. Perhaps, Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi needs to make a fresh beginning on this auspicious day. The last one year in his political career has not been very enterprising or encouraging for him. All the goodwill he had gained during his three-decade old film career has disappeared and he had to receive more brickbats than bouquets. In spite of his best efforts, he could not bring the PRP into power and what is worse, the media has virtually hounded him and exposed his lack of leadership abilities, as one leader after the other started deserting the PRP. Thus, he lost one precious year in his political career.
Now, the PRP president is determined to make a fresh beginning in politics, forgetting the past. As senior PRP leader Kotagiri Vidyadhara Rao commented, the negative reports in the media against Chiranjeevi, in a way, had helped him sit and think new strategies. First of all, he has realised that it is not so easy to take on the mighty Congress and the Telugu Desam, leave alone coming to power. So, his first objective is to establish the party firmly in the state with a strong cadre base and build up the party organisation from grass-root level.
Chiranjeevi made one interesting remark on his birthday on Saturday. He said the success of his son Ramcharan’s film “Magadheera” was a good omen for the resurrection of the PRP. A day before, he also made a comment that nobody would pluck the party’s flag, as long as it was deeply rooted in the hearts of his supporters; and that nobody could remove his image he had held in the hearts of the people for 30 years.
This clearly shows Chiranjeevi is once again banking on the support of his own fans and also that of his son Ramcharan Teja and brother Pawan Kalyan. It this thinking is correct, then Chiranjeevi is grossly mistaken. Fans alone cannot make a political party. They were just a miniscule percentage of the total electorate. And it was pretty evident that Chiranjeevi’s fans did not come to his rescue in the last elections. On the other hand, they betrayed the party by deliberately defeating the candidates in many places.
He has to convince the people that there is the third alternative party in the state, which could give a new dimension to politics and administration. In a way, the PRP should follow the path of Bahujan Samaj Party in Uttar Pradesh, which was only a third alternative to the Congress and the BJP in the beginning, but later emerged as the most powerful party in the state and finally come to power on its own. It should be a long-term strategy.
For that, Chiranjeevi needs to develop his own political philosophy and ideology. He has to have his own policies on welfare, development, social and economic fronts. Only then can people view the PRP as different from the Congress and the TDP.

'Vennela' fame director Deva Katta's 2nd film 'Prasthanam' featuring Sharwanand and Ruby Parihar (a Delhi based model) has successfully completed its 1st shooting schedule in the surroundings of Hyderabad with a song and few prominent scenes. Sharwanand who was introduced in 'Vennela' by Deva Katta is playing yet another role portraying a unique characterization in 'Prasthanam'.

The next schedule of the film starts on August 16 in Vijayawada. Sai Kumar is playing a vital role. Apart from him there is one actor called Sandeep Kishan who is doing a key role in this film. Other prominent actors are Vennela Kishore, Surekha Vani, Jayaprakash Reddy, Jeeva, Pruthvi, Ravi Prakash, Sasi Kumar, Pavitra Lokesh and others.
